Natural stones are always conveying class and culture, moreover, it gives your home a character that cannot be replaced with engineered stone.
The most common natural stones are granite, marble, and quartzite out of which granite is the most popular material for countertops.
If you want your stones to always have that fabulous fresh look, you need to make sure you are maintaining it properly.
Marble is extremely porous and soft. If you do not seal it and put something on marble, you may slightly stain it or etch it. Therefore, you need to have a tough skin seal on it every 8 months which is totally DIY. Another way to add durability to marble is to hone it.
Granite tends to have a structure that is harder. Therefore, with granites you still can have that great natural look with more durability than marble. Your granite needs to be sealed every 2 to 3 years when in light colors but 3 to 5 years with dark colors.
Quartzite has the elegant look of marble but more of durability or even stronger material than granite. If your quartzite is white, do the sealing every 8 months but with other colors every year still secures your stone.
Keep in mind that wall applications of any natural stone do not require any maintenance.
